Splurge vs. Save | Serena & Lily

I am always looking for a good bargain, and if it is a dupe it's even better! Today we are comparing the Splurge of the Serena and Lily vs the Target Threshold Line. They have so many similar items it almost makes you think they know exactly what they are doing!

Now, I want to first say, I do not own the Serena and Lily versions of these, but I can contest to the Target versions. The pillows I've used for our pool the past two summers and are still like new. I spot treat them if need be, but they get wet by the pool, thrown around and shoved into a storage bin when not being used. The chair and lanterns are new purchases this year. However, the chairs feel very sturdy and I plan on keeping them under our covered patio. The Target pieces may not last as long as the Serena ones, but that is a chance I am willing to take. I feel as though my style might change by the time these are ready to throw in the towel anyway, so I don't feel so guilty with the price tag when that happens.

First up.. Riviera Chairs vs French Bistro Chairs:

Next.. Beach Stripe Pillow Covers vs Cabana Stripe Pillows:

These are ONLY for the COVER and not the insert. The insert is sold separately for Serena & Lily

Home Tour | Master Bedroom

Ahh, the master bedroom. Sadly, the only time we spend up here is literally to sleep. But it is very peaceful and we do love it. In reality the only time that TV gets turned on, is if we let Joey watch a cartoon before bed! We also had the addition to the room in these photos of Vinny's bassinet. It since has come down, as these pictures were taken about a month ago!

When we bought the house, we were so happy to have full, high ceilings. In our last home, one wall was slanted so it was very limited on what we could do in the room. We both have our own closets as well, so that is a big help too! We also love that we have our own master bathroom! I planned on taking many bathes in there.. so far, the boys have used the most of that tub! I hope to finish decorating and possibly painted the master bath soon, to share with you as well!

Home Tour | Living Room

The last month and some we've been spending a lot of time in this room. As you can imagine with a newborn and toddler, this room does not look like this. Maybe if you dump those toy baskets out and pull all the puzzles from the playroom and scatter the pieces onto the floor. And let's not forget about the legos everywhere! But these pictures were taken when the room was CLEAN.

As many links as I could find are linked below.. if you see something not linked, let me know!

Joey's Toddler Room

When we moved into our home in March, Joey's was one of the first rooms we set up, however, the decorating and organizing took a little longer. When we moved he was still in the crib and we were only thinking about transitioning him to his convertible toddler bed. Fast forward a few months and we found out we were pregnant with baby #2. We debating turning Joey's crib into the toddler bed, or just giving that one to the baby and purchasing a new one. We finally decided the toddler bed would be a waste since he would grow out of it in a few years, and preferred to just invest in a full size bed.  Joey has been in his bed for a few months now and is doing so great, and this past weekend I finally hung up some decorations and organized his stuff. He still in in diapers, so we do still use the changing table that is what will be the babies room, so most of his clothes are in that room.  I tried to keep the making holes in the walls to a minimum, because I intend to move his bed to the center of the room once maybe in the next year or so, when I can take off the toddler rails. But for now, I'm happy with how it turned out though.

Favorite Farmhouse Home Decor from Wal Mart

How do you feel about the 'farmhouse' trend? I really like it due to the neutral and wood mixed with metal tones. I'm not a huge fan of the cows and pigs 'down on the farm' stuff though.. if that makes sense! Recently I saw someone I follow on instagram post a piece of furniture from Wal Mart and it looked so expensive and farmhouse-ish that I thought I would check it out for myself.

I love changing things up in our house, and with Wal Mart's prices, it allows me to do that more often without breaking the bank. The things I found actually remind me more of items from pottery barn, way fair and world market more then Wal Mart!!

Here are my top choices:

TV Console

Farmhouse Decor from World Market

One of my favorite online shops for home decor is World Market. Last year I purchased all our baskets for our linen closet organization from there and picked up some great accent pieces too. Two summers ago, I snatched so really cool rope lights for our patio as well as some fun lanterns for around the patio table.
Today I'm showing you some of my favorite farmhouse decor for around your home.

Candle Holders
Wire Baskets with Liner
Wire Basket
Floor Cushion
Pillow
Wall Rack
Fiddle Leaf Tree

Now that I look at the items I picked, it looks straight out of my living room! I love to hang decorative items on my wall rack behind my door, but yet still use it as functional for coats, umbrellas, bags to throw some of Joey's toys when we head out the door. I have similar candle holders on our catch all table as a similar fiddle leaf tree in the corner of our living room. I have black thumb and can't keep anything alive, so faux greenery is the way to go for me!

With Joey on the move these last few months, we had to free up some room in the living room. We decided to put our leather reclining chair in the basement in order to push our ottoman against the wall making the middle of the room open. I purchased these floor cushions to use as additional seating and also to help out our butts while we play on the floor with Joey! The ones from World Market are much cheaper, but we really wanted ours to match our sectional!

The lined wire baskets are used all throughout my house! I have one in the kitchen that holds our cookbooks to make our shelving a little more tidy. I also have them used in our upstairs bathroom, bedrooms for additional storage and a large one holds Charger's toys . I just love that they go with everything and the liner hides the stuff inside them.  The pillows above add a pop of color to a somewhat plain and neutral decor scheme!

What do you think? Are you a follower of the farmhouse/ neutral trend?

Our Home | Kitchen and Sunroom Christmas Tour

Twas the Eve of Christmas Eve and all through the house, the only christmas cookies left were that for a mouse!!
Do you like that little rhyme I came up with?? Well it's the truth! I baked last weekend but didn't want all the sweets left in the house. So I made little goodie bags of cookies to give to our neighbors and friends and brought the rest to a work christmas party. I did leave some for Santa for christmas eve, but I think Mr. Claus aka my husband; already ate them all.
Today I'm bringing you on a home tour of our kitchen and sunroom decorated for christmas. Like in the living room and bedroom I didn't go too over board with the decorations this year. Let me know what you think!

Home Tour | Bedroom

We have lived in our house for two whole years. We have done a lot in our home since we first moved in, however one room we never changed is our bedroom. See that blue wall color, yeah that was here since day one. The previous owners had just painted it before we moved in and the color was not horrible. Actually it kinda went with our furniture and accents colors. Plus, it was one less thing we had to do in our ever growing list of house updates.

I never gave a tour of our bedroom, because I never felt like it was finished. There still are some things that need to be moved around in here but I am at a happy place with it right now.

These two helped me put on clean sheets and made the bed. They are just so inviting it makes me want to curl up there with them!  Also,  until writing this post I never noticed the piece of clothing hanging out of the night stand. #reallife

I finally printed out some of our wedding photos and hung them in our bedroom. I just love black and white photos. Some of my favorites are candids that aren't staged. These are two of my absolute favorite. The one on the left I can remember my telling Joe how I couldn't wait to take the wedding shoes off and the one on the left we were laughing because the photographer wanted us to touch foreheads and stare at each other and when we did both our heads were sweating since it was so humid!
The books piled here are actually from the Thrift Store that I purchased for $.50 each! I wrapped them in kraft paper and tied them up in some twine.
