Super Bowl Games

Now that we covered the food yesterday, let's take a look at the best part of the game (when your team isn't playing).. the commercials. I love keeping track to rank them at the end. Today I want to share with you a little BINGO game I put together to spice up the game a little bit.  There are so many ways to make this fun throughout the game! If you are hosting a party you can split up in teams or play individually. Turn it into a drinking game if you are into that or just some good old fun with family!

No Bake Peanut Butter Cookies

The Super Bowl. A time to get together with friends, drink beer and eat food. Let's admit it, if there was no food or beer at a SB party it just wouldn't be the same! Lately, I've been trying to eat healthier and work out more in prep for the warmer months. When my friend brought these over for a snow day this week I knew these would be perfect to make for a party we are attending this weekend!
They take about 10 minutes to make and don't even require you to bake them!

Ingredients:

3 Cups Oatmeal
5 Tbsp Peanut Butter
2 Cups Brown Sugar
2 Tsp Vanilla
1/4 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Milk

Directions:

Mix together oatmeal, peanut butter, and brown sugar and set aside. Stir together sugar, milk, and butter in medium saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally. Cook for about one minute. Immediately pour over oatmeal mixture and stir thoroughly but rapidly. With a spoon, scoop about a heaping tablespoon onto wax paper or plastic wrap and let set until firm. Put in refrigerator for quicker firm. Enjoy!

Here are some other recipes I have made for parties that have been a hit!

What are some things you will be enjoying with the big game this year?

Layering

The Super Bowl is among us. Let's just be thankful the game is not on the North East this year, because we are hatching down for a blizzard.. or so they say.  Sunday night I decided on the genius idea of going to the grocery store... First let me back up for those Southern or West coast readers.

If you are from the north east and they are calling for snow (doesn't matter the amount) and you decide to go to the grocery storm you better not expect you purchase bread, milk or eggs (apparently everyone likes french toast???) because literally EVERYONE runs out and purchases them. It's a thing we Northeasters do!

Now back to my post.. oh yes the big game! Well I purchased some ingredients to make for the big game which I will talking about later this week. But more importantly, what will I wear to the Super Bowl parties this year?? I love layering. I feel you can always take layers off at a party or event if you get to warm. Since it is the Super Bowl and this party will consist of mostly dudes.. I'm gonna keep it casual with some staple pieces. Here's a glimpse of an outfit I might be wearing!

Color of the Year 2015

What do you think of when you hear Marsala? Well for me, my mouth starts salivating because I think of chicken Marsala since that is my favorite meal! But what I'm talking about today is Marsala the Pantone color of the year.  Marsala closely resembles a dark burgundy or wine color with a little bit more of a softer hue.

Marsala

I'm not a huge fan of shades of red, but I think I will be pairing this color with my neutral palettes I tend to wear. How will you wear Marsala this year?

Organization | Office

This year I have resolved to become more organized. So far I have been off to a good start. My shop has definitely been taking off and instead of putting off orders, I have been fulfilling them as soon as I can! As mentioned a couple weeks ago, I thought I was gonna finally have my own office to decorate and get organized. I immediately turned to Pinterest (because who wouldn't), and started gathering ideas of how I wanted to plan my room. After we found out we lost the house, I admit I was in a slump.  Instead of dwelling of what I didn't have, I thought why not work with what I already have.

I believe that organization is not only about papers and files being in order, but it also has a lot to do with presentation. I feel most organized and ready to take on any project when I feel my surroundings are clean and 'pretty'. With just a few items from Home Goods, Target and Staples, I know I can make my living room desk/ office into a organized place to get work done.

Let me straigten out one thing here.. I don't actually have an 'office'. I have a desk. In the living room. Next to the couch and television. So when I refer to office.. now ya know what I'm talking about. I wanted to go with a neutral pallet for my office since my desk is white and my chair is a neutral chevron print.  Plus since my desk is in the living room which has stronger colors, it transitions me to the feeling of a different room.  I created my own mood board for my office space with some things I have, need and would like to purchase for it.

Hunter Boots Revisited

Last year I did this post  about wearing Hunter boots. Let's just say I'm STILL getting repinned on Pinterest  daily for for the post I did on Hunter Boot season. I currently have two pairs of Hunter boots (dark army green & dark purple) and can truely say that I wear them at least one a week if not more. If you are new to these parts I live in PA and work in NJ.. So winters around here are frigid cold, rainy at times, with snow mixed in there. AKA perfect weather for my Hunter boots! If I could wear my boots everyday, I think I would.

Well today my friends, I'm showing you two different ways to sport your Hunter boots! On the weekend is when I run all my errands and prefer to not dress up.. unless I'm going to a nice dinner and drinks. During the week, for work, even though not required I prefer to dress up.  When it is bad weather, I try to pair my boots with a dress or skirt so that I don't feel so bulky with jeans and socks. Check out my stylings below and tell me how you style your boots!

Baked Mac and Cheese

Recently I had some minor oral surgery done due.. Long story short, nothing ever goes as planned for me and complications arose and I have to go back in three weeks. Because of this, I'm forced to eat soft foods until then.. thank god I like pastas!! I whipped up this easy recipe the other night since Mac & Cheese is one of my comfort foods I enjoy. This recipe is one of my mom's favorite things to make me too so that's also why I love it so much!!

Ingredients:

1 box small elbow noodles
1 block Cracker Barrel sharp Cheddar cheese
1 cup Milk (I use 2% but you can you any you prefer- except skim)
2 eggs
4 tsp salted butter
1/4 cup Shredded Cheddar cheese
Handful of Bread Crumbs

Directions:

In a large bowl grate block of cheddar cheese and put to side. Cook your pasta according to package. In sauce pan on low heat; melt butter and add in milk.  Carefully, add in eggs to low heat- make sure to add slowly and continuously mix or will form scrabbled eggs!!! Remove from heat and put aside. In a casserole dish or pie dish grease bottom. Add layer of sauce mixture to cover bottom. Add layer of cooked pasta and layer of grated cheese.  Continue this pattern until reach top. Cover with extra shredded cheese and bread crumbs. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes (depending on pan you may want to keep in more or less- but do not burn noodles on the bottom. Let cool before serving.
Enjoy!

Living Together

My boyfriend and I have been living together for 5 months now. We are not married, not engaged, just living together..

A lot of people may frown on this, considering I am a Catholic, and living together before marriage is definitely a no no. But how will you know if you two are compatible is you only spend time on 'dates'? How do you know of all your pet peeves and annoying little habits if you see each other for a couple hours a day or maybe only once or twice a week.

We are currently in the process of looking for a home to purchase too. Which to me is actually a bigger deal then getting a ring (but I'd be lying if I'd say I'm not waiting for that day to come).  Just this month we put and offer on a home and were so excited to begin this next step. Our hopes were shot down when during the home inspection things were found and the seller did not want to negotiate with. Unfortunately we pulled our offer and are moving on. There will be plenty more out there.

In March of 2015 we will officially be together for 5 years. A lot has happened in that 5 years.. a short break apart that only made us closer, deaths in the family, fights, tears, happy times and milestone events. But through it all we stood by each other.

I've noticed then when I tell people that I live with my boyfriend, it's not that big of a deal. A lot of friends live with their significant others.  It seems to be the norm these days. How else will you really learn if you can live with them if you don't.  All situations are different. Just until a couple months ago (prolly around the same time we moved in together) if we were to stay at one of our parents house, we would stay in different rooms. Even though I would stay over Joe's apartment at least once a week and all weekend and our parents knew this, I feel it was more of a respect thing.

So what are some things I've learned since living together?

Take time away from each other | It's important to still do your own things. Go to dinner with friends, drinks with the girls, or out during the weekend.
Get into a routine |  This was hard for us to do. Little things such as bath room time in the am need a routine. This will help to eliminate frustration first thing in the morning.
Compromise | A big thing for us was decor in our apartment. Joe has already lived there for a year. And of course was a man palace with beer signs and kegarators in the living room. I would never ask him to remove everything, because that is things he loves. So we compromised to take some things down and put up more gender neutral things.
Still have date nights | Even though you see each other every day and night, take even one night a month and go out to dinner and a movie just the two of you.
